Multidisciplinary Approach to Rehabilitation of Chemical Dependents
Detoxifying the chemical is only part of the treatment. In addition to depending on the patient's will, the use of medications, isolated, can barely help a completely disorganized person, from basic hygiene care to social relationships and emotional bonds.
Hence the consensus that a multidisciplinary approach is necessary for effective treatment. Detoxification, psychotherapy, occupational therapy and social care are just parts of the treatment. And there are still those who defend a religious component in this recovery of the individual. However, as a rule, this multidisciplinary approach is still completely disarticulated in Brazil.
Besides the joint, there is a need for great dedication on the part of those who apply the treatment. The service to the user requires skill and emotional availability of the professionals involved, which demands great investments, even in training.
